I did a 1200 calorie deficit for 8 weeks then slowly went up to 1600-1800 cals a day since I was incorporating heavy lifting and hiking. I lost more weight at a higher cal intake than I did at my deficit

So my body has actually been doing this subconsciously, I realise now. Ive been losing weight for 3 years now and Ive always had some weeks of losing weight and then some weeks of plateau. Those weeks I just couldnt stay within my defecit, my body wanted more food. I was always so frustrated with this but now Im not anymore. Thanks!

Thank you for this! Maintenance is so underrated, the body will adjust accordingly if you workout and fuel properly. Deficit is not the only solution to weight loss, it will deplete the hormones at some point.

It’s mostly about WHAT you eat - not how many calories you eat. With higher quality nutrient dense foods you won’t want as much quantity

Is not the “weight loss plateu” bc a lower weight needs less calories as a new maintenance and the metabolism does not adapt to a calorie deficit, just to the new maintenance which becomes lower when u loose weight

I wish there was more healthy information on how to gain weight not just lose it. I’m classed as underweight (7st 4 and 5ft 7) but I’ve tried and tried with no luck to gain weight. At one point I was eating anywhere up to 5000 calories (good calories and bad) a day but would gain a few lbs and then lose it again. Would just love some sensible and healthy advice. Everything is aimed at losing weight 😭🤦🏼♀️
