reading these comments and coming to the conclusion that not only are ppl extremely selfish but there’s an insane lack of problem solving skills in society rn, like am i the only one who if someone cancalled a service right before an event or holiday i would just start looking for other places to provide the same service for me?? like ppl just want other ppl to solve all their problems these days it’s infuriating. no one knows how to take control of their lives these days

I was once getting my hair bleached in 2020. I was there with my hair dresser and there was a woman there with her hair dresser. For 30 mins the other hair dresser was talking about how her dad had dementia and they didn’t think he was going to last much longer. 5 mins later the salon phone rings and my hair dresser and answers and goes pail and says “hey the phone is for you” and the other hair dresser answers and just breaks down sobbing because her dad had died. My hair dresser starts grabbing the others things and rushing her out the door to go to her family and the other client goes “but what about my hair?!” All rude and annoyed. I forewent my cut and style for the day so my hair dresser could finish the other lady because I felt so bad. It was the least I could do but I never forgot that horrible woman

We lost everything in an electrical fire I had been doing hair from home. Everything was destroyed and so we decided to pick up and move to NZ with our toddler and start a new life. Sent out a group message PSA and one lady sent a message to the affect of “I know you said you’re not doing hair for those other clients but I’d really love it if you could squeeze myself and my daughter in, as we are going away and would love one of your schmicko hair colours” 🥴🧐 then when I reminded her my house and business had burned down she suggested she “could bring champagne and cookies and make a day of it.” Sorry… what?

I own a small business. My pet passed in the evening and my car broke down, leading me to have to message a few clients about simply being unable to do a delivery. One of them claimed I was scamming them when they never paid to begin with. The other? She told me to take a week break and when I came back, she gave me a $10 tip. When her pet passed soon after, I delivered her items and included a care package, apologizing for her loss, offering her comfort if she ever wanted to talk, and appreciation for being such a wonderful customer. I will forever be grateful for her and her support, especially as this is how I go to school.

I told my one professor I’d be missing a few classes due to my dad passing. Attending the funeral and wake. She emailed back saying she will need proof of death. Mind you this was just to miss class… no test or anything.

Omg this is awful! I had a spray tan booked before my holiday last year and the salon owner called me to say they couldn’t do it as the therapist had gone into early labour (!) she was really apologetic, and all I could think was ‘omg, what kid of asshole do they think I am, its just a spray tan!’

This is one of the reasons why I became burned out after working through both my pregnancies. Like one of the reasons I became an esthetician is because I liked helping people to feel good but you do get tired of the bs sometimes. Both from clients and shitty employers.
