I joined the DC fandom a little over 4 years ago. The main reason I joined was because of how much hope superheroes gave to people, and how people were so affected by their existence in media. It made me curious. How in desperate times, children would cling on to a different reality to protect themselves. Now, as I read comic after comic, watch their media and read their history, I truly wonder if they inspire hope to everyone, or just the people unaffected by the racism and hate crimes happening every day. Some do, undoubtedly... but it makes me sad seeing talent in the hands of wrong people, who use it wrong and inspire a reality of violence instead of hope.
