it's also HOW you shop. buying anything pre processed is going to be expensive. I actually paid $3.82 for a pack of instant potatoes (it was a project) I couldve bought an almost 5 lb bag of real potatoes and made my own with milk n butter for way cheaper. also don't buy soda, or energy drinks n such...give the kiddos Mac n cheese, but also sandwiches. there's tuna, egg salad, pb&j...

Does your school district provide a summer feeding program? I split my time between IL and NY, and all children under 18 years of age are fed the entire school break regardless of enrollment status.

Just an idea , if you have any leftovers instead of putting it in the refrigerator n maybe not get eaten you could make individual "tv dinners " and freeze them for your kids to take out for lunches or on a night. Maybe you don't wanna cook. Also, if you have a Sams or a Costco card, their chickens there are only five dollars. You could buy several at a time. Take them home take the meat off the bone n freeze the meat in Court size Ziploc bags that way if you make a casserole tacos or anything, your meat is already cooked and it was only five dollars per chicken. In the long run it makes your life easier n it's affordable 🩵

Make sure that there's not a summer food program in your community for the kids. The kids in my community gets weekly ' Summer bucks ' , a card were the state gives a weekly stipend for food. Some States give weekly food boxes. Check with your local school district.

Tip: you have to save $$ when you can. Buy a big bag of macaroni and make your cheese sauce home made. It healthier and you can make Mac n cheese for DAYS. Add a bit of ground beef you have added protein to make it healthier. Access your food pantries and church food banks. So many ways to cut corners.

See if you have a free food program for kids near you! We live north of Nashville and our county gives a free box of breakfast/lunch foods per kid weekly! There might be a program near y’all that does the same

Thank you for reminding me how expensive toilet paper can be. My husband and I are privileged to have a little extra each month to stock our local blessing boxes. I’m going to add individually wrapped TP to my shopping list. Wishing you all the best.
