I HAVE A THEORY!: Okay, based on what we saw in Sprout's lore, the toons have memories of the show as if they happened in real life, but they weren't real (meaning Sprout has memories with Cosmo even though he wasn't created at that time). My theory is that this happened to Gourdy with his parents; perhaps his parents only existed in the show. And when the series stopped airing due to the closure of Gardenview, Gourdy gradually forgot their faces.
