Travel is a line in my budget just like any other bill ect. I put $500 a month and sometimes more into a separate account. At the end of the year we decide what trips we want to do the following year which is sometimes dependent on how much we managed to save.

I closed my eyes and clicked book this year and am having to suffer the consequences of that decision but I know now that I can save the monthly payment (once this is paid off) to contribute to travel in the future. No more crazy decisions like that for me! Although Japan was a wonderful experience for mine and my son’s 1st international trip. ❤️

I also put money aside each paycheck. also, I have a TD travel Visa. I put everything on my Visa, and pay it in full at the end of the month. I use the travel points to buy a plane ticket

I’ve always done this! (When possible) and even if you don’t ahve 100% budgeted before you go, its much better than the closing your eyes and hoping for the best method

I travel locally (since there are still places that I never visit). And yes, without budget, I'll be drowning. I travel usually once every four months. so, within that period, I'll building the "travel fund".

I try to see how much the trip costs and then start my budget months out from there so I know what my monthly savings should be. In the summer months I shift to saving for camping instead.

For the big trip I took, I paid for things as soon as I could in the year before. Booked and paid for the cruise. Then airplane tickets. Then excursions.
