Revisiting my aesthetics from the 90s series, I am coming back to part 2 here. Trying to stay consistent with posting, as these take some time to make. All of these aesthetics range between the 80s and 90s, but all saw their high peak in the mid 90s for the most part. Utopian Scholastic (mid 80s to early 2000s) is one of my favorite old aesthetics and reminds me of watching old educational videos in elementary school and reading scientific textbooks. Such as eyewitness videos and the books they came out with. It gives me a sense of exploration and wanting to learn more as a young kid, that the world was huge and full of knowledge. It also reminds me of old library’s and focus groups. Factory Pomo (late 80s to mid 90s) was when early digital designs tried to incorporate a machine-like style. This also seemed to coincide with educational videos as it was evident in things like Bill Nye, Art tutorials, and reading comprehension games online. I remember seeing lots of bright colors, funky shapes, and gear like or brainiac inspired art. Global Village Coffeehouse (late 80s to mid 90s) was an art style that was full of warm earthy tones that gave off almost a tribal like feeling. Multicultural like art colors and lots of greens, browns, yellows, oranges, and a very homey like inviting style. Cyberdelia (late 80s to mid 90s) was introduced when rave culture exploded along with early digital/cyber life. When PCs were getting introduced and art was beginning to be made in early stages online, there was a subsection of art created that was inspired by the digital world being its own surreal like space and own little world. Combined with rave culture, lots of rave flyers and artwork embodied this aesthetic. Let me know what y’all think of this one, and what I should visit next. I’m thinking deeper into Utopian Scholastic. #90sthrowback #1990s #90saesthetic #nostalgiacore #aesthetics
