It actually became a huge joke in my mom's house because Every. Single. Time. I had friends over she would knock on the door and ask if we were hungry and if we told her no shed proceed to name off everything in the fridge and cupboards. "... are you guys sure? We have pizza, doritos, we have some frozen mozzarella sticks I can make, we even have Gatorade, we have a bunch of fruit if you guys wanna share a fruit plate, I also just picked up some...." We began to understand that we needed to say yes to something or shed stay there for 15 minutes trying to convince everyone to eat something and repeat the process every hour until they chose something lol

I grew up with no money on a farm. The local farms around us had several kids my age who would walk the dirt roads between our farms together. 6-7 kids including me between 10-14. When we would roll-up to my house, my mom would have a plate of sandwiches and sweet tea ready. I watched her count Penny’s by candlelight at 4 am to make sure the electricity was paid, but when a kid wanted food, there was no “tell your mom to post me $1.50.” That kid got fed.

I was an exchange student in canada when I was 13 , and payed 800 dollars a month to the host family for a year (it was 2009, so about 1,100 in todays money) and when they had a family trip somewhere, if I was included, I had to pay my part of gas. 😂

I grew up with not a lot of money, mom and dad constantly budgeting to afford groceries for the week. they NEVER asked for money when they fed my friends, not one penny. mom always said if you left our house hungry it's your own fault, she fed everyone

I remember my dad FUMING over my aunt (his sister) having me pay for my own food in a drive through when I was like 7. They even made more money than my family at the point in time.

I’d be a millionaire if I charged all the kids who eat at my house! I tell them all the same thing: You don’t have to ask for ANYTHING. Anything in the cabinets, fridge, pantry, deep freezer… it’s all fair game. Get what you want.

My mom told my friends growing up that our house was their house when they were over and to not ask for anything to just get whatever they wanted.. they also were told to not knock on the door when they arrived and to just walk in.. my best friends mom was the same way, people be weird af these days😂
