I like that. I’m giving myself a new 5 minute rule on replies. Don’t reply to email until it has been 5 minutes

How do you respond to constantly being contacted on your days off or after work hours? It immediately ruins my mood. I’ve considered blocking work numbers while I’m OOO because it never actually feels like a break.

Further, banking your PTO days when you know you’re leaving is a power move for your finances. Accrued unused vacation is owed upon termination.

This is not maturing this is using a TikTok trend of “maturing is realizing” no you will never be directly fired for using your PTO. You will begin to suffer from constant critiques of work you’ve been doing just fine, write up’s over minor things that are still punishable and a general uncomfortable work place.

This took me way too long to learn. One thing I didn’t expect: the higher you go, the less the challenge is actual urgency and the more it’s figuring out which “urgent” things are truly important. Great reminder.

corporate manager here. they won't let you go for using your PTO but they'll "terminate" the position or reduce staff "due to restructuring" and you will get "laid off" so goooood luck 🥰 btw 48 of 50 states are classified as "at will state" now

Unfortunately where I work we get very generous PTO but are held back from promotions because we take too much vacation…

Took me working myself to the bone for 15 years as a top performer at my previous employer, just to get laid off. All that time spent killing myself for nothing. Work life balance is now a thing at my new employer. Boundaries.

agreed...but my careful use of PTO allowed me to retire at 52 with a pension that pays me just like I'm at work for the rest of my and my wife's life.....the moral of the story...use it if you need to, but save it if it works to your advantage!

My work makes it as difficult as possible to put in for it. If I wanted to use it I have to put it for it 4 months in advance. System doesn’t allow any shorter notices submitted. Fun times.

My boss likes to ping me and I ask if I saw so and so’s email. I’ll look at my inbox and it’ll be like a 2 minute old email lol. Like if it’s that important why don’t you take the time it took to write me this and respond
