@stubborn_optimism: You can physically see how it drained the life out of me - it also nearly took my life from me. Nobody should ever feel isolated or ignored. Nobody deserves to be scared into silence or manipulated into self blame, all for it to cause even more suffering. I truthfully did not see a way out after nearly three months of suffering and was knocking on death’s door by the time a doctor really listened and appropriately addressed the root problem - PTSD. I will forever be grateful for all of the amazing doctors, nurses and technicians who never made me feel alone or ignored. For my support system who felt so helpless but stayed by my side through it all. Never give up on yourself, advocate for what you need and don’t stop until you find someone who listens. PTSD manifested into a physical beast of a chronic illness and I never knew that could happen until it happened to me. Going on 7 years after being raped, I’m finally able to process it with the right tools and a better understanding of what my body is telling me. I promise you - the bad doesn’t last forever.
