@lovinmaltaofficial: New footage shows the dramatic rescue of dozens of migrants from a boat in distress in international waters off Malta. A Turkish fishing vessel, Tuncay Sagun 2, rescued a group of migrants after spotting them in the water. Crew members brought the survivors aboard and provided food, water and first aid as part of the emergency response. According to the Armed Forces of Malta, Malta Vessel Traffic Services received a distress notification on Sunday evening regarding a migrant boat located around 50 nautical miles east of Malta, outside territorial waters. The Rescue Coordination Centre immediately coordinated a rescue operation, instructing nearby vessels to assist while AFM assets and the Italian Coast Guard were deployed to support the effort. A total of 53 migrants were rescued, while 11 bodies were recovered. One person required urgent medical attention and was evacuated by an AFM air asset. Following the rescue, survivors and the recovered bodies were transferred to the relevant authorities upon arrival ashore. The footage captures the tense moments as migrants were brought aboard the assisting vessel during the life-saving operation.
