I live in Newfoundland and Labrador. use to be it's own Country until 1949 we were sold too Canada to pay off 1st world War it seems. we have huge amounts of resources. Fishing, logging, pulp and paper mills. not so much anymore. mining in Labrador and big Hydro electrical power.

It is quite interesting how some people are eager to call things a conspiracy theory, just because it is easier than actually researching. When someone is in a business of mining, and have enough power (money, connections, influence) is it so far fetched to think they'd want some very specific outcomes in things where their money and influence are concerned. Certain countries would be beneficial to them, certain others would be competitors. And when you have enough money and reach to get an outcome you desire, isn't it logical you'd do all you can to secure it.
