@graceistruth2012: UK house builders face the toughest time since 2007 collapse. Build cost inflation, professional fees, financial contributions to local authorities, BNG, CIL, Affordable housing, Services capacities, Nutrient Mitigation, water neutrality, Builders Safety Levy, Future Homes, landfill tax, S106 and falling house prices = PERFECT STORM. All is not well in UK housebuilding right now! #house #builder #construction #UK #crisis

I have been a owner of a construction and development company for thirty years and in the last six years I have never been so stressed and so broke. Closing down my company soon laying off 35 employees. Sick to death of working for the government

The Government must Stop calling it affordable housing, it’s not affordable. New terraced house £350,000 isn’t affordable for majority of first time buyers.

labour costs haven't gone up , most bricklayers and other trades haven't had a pay rise for at least 5 years

Given my new bathroom cost me £20k - which for the exact same thing 10 years ago in my last house cost £4K I’m not surprised. We want an extention.. it’s not even a big one and the lowest quote we have had is £250k. Again at our last house for the same - it cost me £50k. It’s mad. Totally unaffordable.
