While bouldering does indeed burn more calories on average it’s extremely close to doing cardio in the gym. Burning Calories does indeed not promote the growth of lean muscle mass, it rather burns calories and in a deficit burns fat. If you are referring to the build of muscle through the exercise itself, it’s not wrong but also not right either. While bouldering does and will build muscle, it’s simply inferior to strategic workout plans which are centered around building muscle. If the gym isn’t doing it for you bc of personally regards that’s one thing but there’s always the option to make it fun with friends or changing the workout to your liking. The only acceptable argument here is the fun of the work wich is inferior in regard to the other facts which makes bouldering inferior and all in all worse
