@life_inlittlebites: If you’re starting solids or trying to encourage your baby to eat more independently, please remember this first, it doesn’t happen in one day. Whether you follow BLW, spoon feeding, or a mix of both, self-feeding is a skill babies learn slowly just like crawling, walking, or talking. What helped us from 6 months onwards 🌸 I tried to keep meals in the same place most of the time. Either in her high chair/ table, so she understood this is where we eat. 🌸 I offered food, but didn’t force. I had to keep reminding myself that my job is to offer nutritious food, and her job is to decide how much she wants to eat. So I offer, wait and move on 🌸 I let her touch and explore food. Babies need to touch, squash, smell, drop, and explore food before they fully understand it. It really helps them become comfortable with different textures. 🌸 I used a mix of spoon feeding and finger foods. Some meals I let her self feed, some meals I helped with a spoon. Do what works for your baby and your home. 🌸 I avoided screens and distractions from the beginning. Not because I’m perfect, but because I wanted her to learn that mealtime is for food. 🌸 I ate with her when possible. Babies learn so much by watching us. Even if I wasn’t having a full meal, I tried to sit with her, talk to her, and show her that eating is a normal family routine. 🌸 I stayed consistent. This is probably the biggest thing. Not every meal was perfect. Not every day was easy. But doing the same small things again and again helped her understand what mealtime looks like. So if your baby isn’t self-feeding yet, don’t feel behind. Start small. Let them hold food. Let them try the spoon. Let them make mess. It’s not about how much they eat in one meal. it’s about building confidence, interest, and a healthy relationship with food over time 🤍 #toddler #solidstarts #babyledweaning #toddlermeals #ukmums
