even in a small thing like when you walk with your lover but there’s something that makes you cannot walk beside them, and you HAD to look back. even if it’s just to see if they are okay, they are still there. and yes... to love is to be witnessing and reassured that they’re still there, even in the dark. Orpheus is not the one to blame.

looked back because he loved her so much that he had to look back. Looking back is loving. To love is to be scared, to be terrified of a fate where they don't step into the light with you. To love is to be scared out of your mind and to constantly want to make sure that they are right beside you.

looking back is his way of love because he traveled the underworld scared, terrified looking and begging for her and that itself showed that orpheus wouldn't have looked back at the first place if he didn't loved her. he looked back because he needs reassurance to see if she's still there and i will forever believe that "to see is to believe" its not that he didn't believed or trusted her enough but the nature of looking back is the recognition of love. we people often look back if we have everything before we leave and that's the same way for orpheus because eurydice is the everything that he needs.
