Correct answer in show was that it is the only declaration of war in history that was explicitly dated in advance so that it wouldn't ruin a party (Finnish Independence Day 6th of December). Churchill dated the declaration of war to start on 7th 12.00

*klaxon* I especially enjoyed the part of the video, where Stephen actually tells us what the unusual part of the war between GB and Finland was.

I’d argue Britain wasn’t a proper democracy in 1780-1784 even if maybe it was one on paper

what about the british war against the french republic in 1790s? dont you consider the UK a democracy then? or the war of 1812 against the US? I think the UK in 1812 is a democracy proper almost. the american civil war is another example, the confederacy is definitely a very flawed democracy with black people not being able to vote, but by that standard we dont count the US until 1860s either. I guess the question is what counts as a democracy

If West had opposed Russian attack against Finland in the first place, no "war" would have been needed. Like always, Russia wasn't penalised over attacking a sovereign country.

One correct answer would be that both british attacks on Finnish soil were made before declaring the war to Finland at December 7, 1941. During the actual war no shots were fired, so in a sense, Jeremy is correct in his answer. 😎
