As a Japanese who grew up in one of the most earthquake prone countries in the world, I wanted to share one small thing we learn from a young age. Just because the shaking has stopped doesn’t always mean it’s over. In Japan, we’re taught to stay alert after a major earthquake because aftershocks can sometimes happen minutes, hours, or even days later. Of course, I’m not trying to scare anyone. I just want to share something that has become a habit for many of us who grew up experiencing earthquakes. If possible: ✅ Keep your phone charged. ✅ Stay updated through official sources. ✅ Be aware of your surroundings, especially near damaged buildings. ✅ Have a small emergency plan in mind. Hopefully, there won’t be any major aftershocks. But staying prepared never hurts. Sending love, prayers, and support from Japan.
