The best thing your can teach them is to NEVER say, text, or write anything about someone else your wouldn't say to their face. Be a friend to everyone, not a best friend but kind. If someone trys to engage in negative talk, walk away, say I don't know that person well but they seem nice. Stay neutral in conflict.

Middle school teacher here—I’m slightly obsessed with this age group! Sour patch kids!! Sometimes they have it and sometimes they don’t! Sounds like you know exactly what you are doing! Limit screen time! The biggest issues come from social media! Also, let her fall and pick herself up. She will come through on the other side of this literal craziness! I promise! 😘

My parents always said if you call us when you’re in trouble or for a ride or whatever we won’t yell, we will get you home safe and talk about it when you are ready the next day. Knowing that, I feel like I made good decisions.

I have 4 kids and I finally am done with middle school as my youngest just promoted from 8th. I’m SO happy to be done with it!!! Middle school is the worst!!

My daughter is just finishing 6th. There was a huge shift in her self awareness, independence and socialization. I sat by her side and LISTENED! Trust me, she will come to you for all the things. Just be ready for her

Girl I don’t know how you can keep up with your kids! I’m 3yrs younger than you and I have one in college and one just graduated high school and I couldn’t be happier because I’m just exhausted and can’t even imagine if my oldest was starting middle school 😩

We had the 6th grade year we prayed for. We saw a huge jump in responsibility and independence. We have dinner around the table every night and just listen but we also ask questions. She was super busy with extra curriculars. Coached her through friend drama. Planned get togethers with friends (she initiated the communication) at our house.
