@decoderpod: Nilay asked Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman about his earlier statement that a lot of white-collar work could be fully automated as soon as next year. #ai #labor #automation #microsoft #Tech
Can the goal be to turn my 40 hour work week into less instead of just fitting far more efficient work into it?

They changed their tune awfully quick when they realized that people want to pull the plug on AI because of all the impacts.

AI can't handle basic counting. No one who doesn't understand computers saw that coming, they think all computers do math trivially. But LLMs are built on language, they can't handle math. Everything they thought was wrong because of this one detail

He’s right, I’m a project manager, if AI can read my emails, sort them into thematic groups and then show them to me on a dashboard and file neccesary documents, I’ve still got a job but I’m more effective

A judge just punished lawyers on both sides of a case because they both used AI to "write" their briefs that had inaccurate and made up information in them.

Every AI company is realizing that saying they’re cutting jobs helped with fundraising/investors, but has turned their favorability among the public to extreme negative. Now they’re trying to backpedal

Hear this, current AI usage cost is HEAVILY SUBSIDIZED. If you are a CEO and fall for the trap of building it into your ecosystem you are fully at the mercy of these platforms. When they have to be profitable, you will be the first impacted.

You said tasks. Not sub tasks. Jobs are composed of tasks bro. You also didn’t say “rote” tasks. Give me a break.

Bro half these businesses could use powershell scripts and n8n automation tools that existed 7 years ago and they'd do the 'rote, menial' jobs that they're referencing now. but AI is getting those scripts wrong still (esp networking stuff) so you still need a person now to do the checking and fixing

As a marketer, I would want Ai to do the boring stuff, not the creative stuff. Why is Ai creating copy and images? Make my monthly analytics reports, so that I have more time to be creative. But nooooo.

When you automate your workforce, do you really even own your company? Or does the AI company? What happens when the AI company decides your entire workforce deserves a raise?

Mustafa answer the question my guy. Say you got the timeline wrong or say you stick by it. I'd respect either answer but this dancing around and defending your position from the jump is not it.
