Wait, the deterministic search algorithm designed for the very scenario we posed does better than the non-deterministic model that uses it alongside others? Color me surprised

1. You will not build a bm25 index for every small random subset of docs to run 5 questions.

shape_mismatch_error :
Read the paper. The docs they search through are like 100k tokens. Thats too small for semantic search to be effective. The situation changes when you have conflicting names, and a far larger haystack to search in.

I mean, for its task, grep is highly optimised. But agents use grep all the time

Danke! I gave Claude immediately this task: There is a new research paper from PwC on GREP. Please read it and evaluate it in the context of R AG and Vektor Search at our local System. - „Key points documented as a concise task entry — retain pgvector, add tsvector, file-based tool calling, hybrid retriever for the crew.ai phase.“

The grep paper designed for grep to win is typical PWC sales technique in the wild.

you probably did missed something, coding agent use grep with multiple similar words to get what they need, and avoiding the issue you mentioned

Combine them 😁
Search through all with grep and then the groups around with vector search.

The problem is everyone wants to throw ai on everything even the stuff we have purpose build tools for. Sometimes the right tool is all you need and won’t waste money and compute power.
