it's the oldest fully functioning clock of its kind, actually, dating back to 1410... it's masterpiece of 15th century's engineering, sometimes it's good to research history of monuments if you wanna visit them/see them, also the local folklore around it is amazing too.

Not living up to the hype and being a tourist trap ar 2 verrrrrrrrrry different things my friend! I live in Prague and I also don’t think it’s super mega - a nice clock nice building and history behind it - but if you did not buy a 10 euro water bottle at one of the shops or some overpriced food at the restaurant- that clock is not a tourist trap

You don’t know, how to assemble the clock. Than imagine someone was so clever, working on that few years without modern tools, with high precision. And it is running since 1410…

It has great history behind it, but I think bcs alot of tourists dont really understand it, they get disappointed bcs of what hype it has.

It’s more about the whole square or luxury shopping at Parizska. Actually more about the route from Wenceslas square over Charles bridge to Kampa. This clock is historically valuable and the apostles circle around, but it’s 600 years old. Can’t expect much😁 Anyway locals find magic elsewhere, maybe Pruhonicky park?

You know there is legend tied to it being a working clock, should the clock stop the skeleton fogurine on the clock summons evil to the nation. So waiting for the clock to ring is like an assurance though I suppose long forgotten. When you look it from this spot, I am sure it can feel overhyped but that's why cultural knowledge is important part of exploring and then you decide whether it's interesting to you or not. It's also the little things you dont see from down there - it showing four different times like babylonian for example, the hand-carved figurines, or the fact it shows moon and sun phases.
