@itsnotjustaperiod.uk: In April 2026, NHS England brought in a BIG change to GP referrals but you probably haven't heard about it... 🚨Mandatory Advice & Guidance What does this mean? Until now, GPs could make direct referrals at their discretion. Now, they MUST get advice and guidance on treatment plans from secondary care before being allowed to refer a patient. Why is this a problem? 🚨 Referrals can easily be bounced back and patients left to fend for themselves 🚨Not enough GPs to support the demand in the community 🚨Harder for patients and GPs to advocate on their behalf The most frustrating part? Women's health is without a doubt one of the hardest areas for advocacy Women's symptoms are disproportionately dismissed and ignored and now you're telling us it's going to be even HARDER !! ITS ALREADY TAKING A DECADE TO GET AN ENDO DIAGNOSIS 🤯 We want to force the government to U-turn on this change... So we created our own petition! They also cut waiting lists by just removing people from them. In 2024, I was removed from 2 waiting lists without notice, and a third after replying "yes" to the text asking if I still wanted to be seen. Shockingly enough, the problems I struggled with at the time didn't magically go away and I'm now only just receiving care for them in another Trust.
