My mom had a 5 bedroom house, nice car, and 2 carts of groceries for our family of 5 a week making 19 an hour and we still had enough to go out to eat often and do fun things

people forget that when the 40hr work week was established, it supported the WHOLE family and thats why SAHMs were so prevalent, a double income household 40hrs each isnt even enough to just support those two people anymore

Yup. I can’t even afford to buy a house in the neighborhood I grew up in. My daddy got the house for 50k. The houses are now $250k. I me more than both my parents did combined. They had way more purchasing power with less money

My husband and I are making more than my parents did at my age with two kids at home meanwhile it's just me and him living paycheck to paycheck. Can't even afford to go on date nights to cheap local places to eat because everything ends up being $20+ a person. Gas is almost $4 a gallon and groceries higher than snoop. I'm so mentally and emotionally drained from this economy.

Right? My parents are gobsmacked because I make 60k at 26 when they’ve never gotten above 55k. But they have houses and vacations while I can hardly afford a shoddy studio apartment. Their three story house was 60k in 2002.
