Contrary to what you may think, they actually don’t mean the same thing, but no worries, since I explain exactly how we use them in today’s video so you can feel more confident using them! 😄 Take note of the meanings of the three phrases below and practice using them yourself in the comments: 🔹in mind = if you have something in mind, this means that you have a clear idea, plan, or intention to do something: I know you wanted to stay in and watch TV, but that’s not what I had in mind for tonight. When I told the Home Depot worker that I was going to paint my office, he asked me what color I had in mind. We can also say that we did something with a person or thing in mind, which means that we thought of them and considered what would be best for them while doing it: I’m not surprised that she went home early, since I didn’t really make these plans with her in mind. 🔸in my mind = we typically use this phrase to talk about what’s going on in our brain (whether it’s a thought, an image, or an imaginary scenario) or to talk about our own perception of a situation: That conversation went a lot better in my mind than it did in reality. In her mind, everyone likes her, but she’s about to get a rude awakening. 🟢 on my mind = if something is on our mind, that simply means that we’re thinking about it: When I was in college, I was too focused on school to have relationships on my mind.
