Headed to Japan next week and I had to have my psychiatrist write a letter that I sent to the Osaka health bureau months ago to make sure I was okay.

My scripts stay in their bottles I received them in, in my backpack.

You need the original packaging and the prescription for a good few countries. In some countries you also have to let them know ahead of time that you’re taking your adhd meds with you.

I always check guidelines of destination country! I have original packaging, prescription etc. It's mandatory to take care of those things..

Yea anytime you travel out of country, look up their laws regarding stimulant medications. A lot of countries just want it in the labeled bottle, but adderall and vyvanse are actually illegal in some countries and require a whole application with their FDA equivalent to bring certain meds in 😳

In general it’s best to err on the side of keeping your prescriptions in the packaging you received from the pharmacy when traveling. Not only because it can be necessary to bring certain medications to certain countries but also because it can be vital information to have available if you have a medical emergency abroad.

I always take my most recent prescription and keep them in their original packaging as I’m always worried about something happening! Luckily I’ve never had an issue but you can never be too careful

I didn't know this my first times travelling with meds and am glad I was lucky. medication in unopened original packaging + doctor's note describing what you have prescribed and in what dosage is the rule for most EU countries. also many countries have rules about how much you can bring, in the UK for example it's maximum 3 months supply for ADHD and other restricted meds (which is annoying because I'm currently visiting the UK for 4.5 months)

That’s exactly why I bring all of the original bottles with my name my doctor and the prescribing information when I travel. You cannot put pills in those pill packs.

I just went to Japan. You can only have some meds if you apply for a permit for your trip. I did that for vyvanse and basically it was all good they just checked the permit at customs and waved me through. I had everything in the original packaging and a letter and my scripts but they only actually checked the permit that was it. However I always just make sure I have travel letters from my dr and all the other things just incase.
