My 2yo is aggressive with his affection. We remove him if he gets too into it. And we are constantly teaching “gentle”. They can def be more rough but you can teach them to be gentle

NOPE. I have a 7mo boy and pregnant with another. He is getting more antsy during diaper changes and has kicked me a time or two. I don’t think it’s funny, and I’m not raising a “boys will be boys” generation.

I can’t tell you how many times as a school social worker I’d have a kid in my office and ask them “why’d you hit ___” and the response is “my mom said I can” and I call mom up and she agrees with her kid. I often had the, “school is not a place for violence” talk

My oldest is autistic and has meltdowns when he gets upset. But he knows that those behaviors are not acceptable and we have worked so much on those things. He apologizes and we talk about safe ways to get his frustrations out. He knows hitting, kicking, throwing, and pushing is not okay. If things get too hard to calm we move him into a different room and try to show him safe ways to get his energy out or let him regulate. I got pregnant with his little brother when he was 13 months old, and that was a big learning experience for him. Now that I’m pregnant again and he’s 3 he’s definitely very gentle with me and my belly. He even tries to explain to his little brother we have to be gentle. And when his brother is having a hard time with regulating he tries to correct him too and show him ways to get his frustrations or energy out.

i alwaysss see those videos of moms letting their other kids punch and slam on their pregnant bellies so hard and i DONT get it!! if my daughter did that when i have my second i’d be LIVID?? time out immediatelyyy

Maybe I’m inpatient but as someone who’s 13 weeks, I will not be gentle with ANYONE or ANYTHING that could cause me or my baby physical harm ✌️🥰

Teaching a kid it’s ok to defend themselves if they need to is completely different than letting them think it’s ok to just straight up punch people 🙄
