This is exactly what I always tell my friends back in Germany: If you're traveling abroad, please don't book an all-inclusive resort and hide away in a big hotel. Instead, find an Airbnb or a small local hotel where you can actually meet and interact with the local people. Because honestly, if you spend your whole vacation between the buffet and the swimming pool, you might as well have stayed at home. The real adventure only begins when you get to know the people, their culture, and their everyday life.
