Leave South Africans alone. Instead of attacking them and calling them xenophobic every time they speak about their country, people should ask themselves why they are so offended by South Africans wanting better opportunities, safer communities, and a stronger future for their own citizens. Every nation on Earth wants to improve the lives of its people. South Africans are no different. Wanting your country to work better, wanting jobs for citizens, wanting lower crime, and wanting leaders to put the interests of the nation first does not automatically mean you hate foreigners. Many of the same people who criticize South Africans for wanting to improve their country would support similar efforts in their own homeland. There is nothing wrong with wanting your country to be safer, wealthier, more organized, and more prosperous. In fact, more people should want that. Rather than condemning South Africans for caring about the future of South Africa, perhaps the focus should be on making every country stronger and more successful. People should want functioning institutions, economic growth, accountability, and opportunities for future generations wherever they live. If you truly care about your homeland, then you should understand why others care about theirs. Wanting to make your country better is not something that should be mocked.
