Is an unreleased song written and produced by Michael Jackson, originally intended for his double album HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I. On August 7, 2025, a high-quality snippet was leaked by KaiMakesMusic, followed by a longer snippet uploaded on August 28, 2025, by MJ Leaker on YouTube. The full demo recording leaked on January 6, 2026. Background Jackson first publicly mentioned “Innocent Man” during his Mexico deposition in November 1993. He recorded the track around the same period for HIStory, but it ultimately did not make the album. According to journalist and fan Damien Shields, only a few vocal takes were recorded. The demo features vocals in the chorus, which match Jackson’s handwritten lyrics. There are no verses audible in the leaked recordings, although additional lyrics do exist in his notes. The chorus is sung very softly—not in falsetto, but gentle and restrained—contrasting the more aggressive vocal style one might expect given the song’s theme. In 2010, “Innocent Man” was registered with the U.S. Copyright Office under that title, indicating the song may have been reworked around that time, with Brad Buxer listed as the producer.
