If you want mountains that actually take your breath away, Naran Kaghan is the answer. Located about 240km from Islamabad, this valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa only opens from May to October because snow blocks the roads the rest of the year. The moment you cross Balakot, everything changes. Pine trees line the road, the air gets colder, and the Kunhar River runs beside you all the way to Naran. Naran is the main base town with hotels and restaurants, but the real magic is in the spots around it. Lake Saif-ul-Malook sits at 3,224 meters and the water is so clear it almost looks fake. Local legend says it’s where Prince Saif-ul-Malook fell in love with a fairy. Other must-see places include Lulusar Lake, Batakundi waterfalls, Jalkhad, and the meadows of Shogran. If you’re up for more adventure, drive further to Babusar Pass at 4,173 meters. Standing there feels like you’re on top of Pakistan, with massive peaks all around. For a quick trip, a 3-day plan works well. On day one you’d leave Islamabad early, pass through Balakot and Kiwai, and reach Naran by afternoon. Check into your hotel, rest, and take an evening walk by the river. Don’t miss the fresh trout there. Day two starts early with a 4x4 jeep ride to Lake Saif-ul-Malook. You can hike or take a horse up. Come back in the afternoon and cover Lulusar Lake and Batakundi. On day three, head to Babusar Pass if the road is open, then return via Shogran and Siri Paye meadows for one last view of the green hills. A few tips before you go. Book hotels early if you’re traveling in June or July because it gets very crowded. Carry enough cash since ATMs are unreliable after Balakot. Pack in layers because days are pleasant but nights get cold even in peak summer. Hire a local 4x4 jeep for Saif-ul-Malook and Babusar — the drivers know those mountain roads best. And expect weak mobile signal. Jazz works better than other networks, but there will still be dead zones. Naran Kaghan isn’t about luxury or 5-star comfort. It’s about splashing cold river water on your face, sitting around bonfires at night, and seeing stars that don’t need any filter. Go with good company, take fewer clothes, and come back with more memories🤍.#foryou #foryoupage #titkokoffical
