It commemorates the day of the Event of Mubahila, which took place on 24th Dhul Hijjah, 10 AH (632 CE). After a theological debate with a Christian delegation from Najran reached a standstill, Allah commanded Prophet Muhammad to challenge them to a spiritual contest (Mubahila) to invoke God’s curse upon the liars, as revealed in Surah Ale ‘Imran (3:61).
