During the 71-minute set, she struggled to stand, stumbled around the stage, slurred her words, and repeatedly forgot her lyrics. At times, she stopped singing entirely and just stared into space. The Aftermath: The crowd heavily booed her, and the Serbian defense minister publicly called the performance a "huge shame and disappointment." Following the disastrous gig, her manager cancelled the remaining 11 dates of the European tour. It would be her last public concert; she passed away just over a month later on July 23, 2011. Why Management Didn't Stop the Show According to Amy’s close friend Tyler James who was with Amy at the hotel not far from the concert venue Amy had taken a Librium tablet (a sedative she was taking to help manage her alcohol dependence and severe anxiety). However someone in her team also allowed Amy to have a “couple glasses” of wine. In his book Tyler said Raye Cosbert suddenly appeared saw Amy’s state and tried to suggest it was Tyler who had given her the wine. In my opinion it was the vile Raye Cosbert and his people who allowed Amy to consume the wine and then blame innocent Tyler who knew immediately something suspect was up & the fact Raye saw her in this state he could’ve easily cancelled the show instead of carting her off in the mini van to the venue and humiliate herself - it was all about MONEY for Raye Cosbert and the management team which ironically Amy Winehouse returned BACK (£300,000) to the promoters even though she had technically fulfilled her obligation by staying more than the allotted time on stage and struggling through the song numbers she did. The View of Critics and Former Colleagues Failure to Intervene: Critics, including her first manager Nick Shymansky, have expressed immense frustration that she was allowed to perform in such a highly vulnerable state. Shymansky noted that while he couldn't say she was physically "pushed" onto the stage, it was obvious she "wasn't being stopped" by those around her, despite her clearly documented struggles. The Binge: The 2015 documentary Amy suggests that Winehouse actually went on a deliberate drinking spree prior to the tour, hoping her management would see her condition and cancel the dates. Instead, she was put on the plane to Serbia while in a state of "drunken oblivion."
