@403sphere: i was heading back to my apartment late at night when the elevator suddenly stopped on a floor that shouldn't have been accessible. the entire level was supposed to be closed off for renovations, and as far as i knew, the elevator wasn't even programmed to stop there. at first i thought it was just a malfunction, but then i noticed something standing in the darkness beyond the doors. i couldn't make out exactly what i was looking at, but the feeling that came over me was immediate. every instinct was telling me not to step out. after a few seconds, the elevator doors closed on their own and continued moving as if nothing had happened. i still can't explain why it stopped there... or what was waiting in the dark.
