yeah but he has a point thou, if I pay you to be somewhere doing a job at 8. it is your responsibility to be at that location and doing that job at 8. not to start the job 10 or 20 minutes past 8.

I agree with him to be honest, you need to be ready to start at the start time not getting ready

Literally, if I'm doing anything work related then pay me. I'm not here for the fun of it.

Would you arrive at the train station 1 second before the train pulls away?

devils advocate here. if your clock in time is 8am that is the time you must be ready to work, not clock in then go put you bag/coat etc away. doing that means the person waiting to go home is actually working unpaid overtime until you are ready

I honestly think it depends on the job. If youre in a call centre and your phones need to be logged in and switched on for a certain time then you need to be at the desk for then. This could be solved by a small time buffer to allow people to get logged in, sorted and ready. So say in for 8 and Phones ready to take calls from 8:30 at start of business. I dont know. I agreed with him for a lot of it which I think says a lot about how I was treated in the job market 🤣

10 mins is such an insignificance. i worked in a corporate role and did 10-15 hours unpaid overtime every week as did all my colleagues. Dont lose an otherwise good job for the sake of 10 mins per day in this economy 😉

Work is paid hours. Anything outside of that is personal time. Want someone to arrive 10 minutes earlier then pay them for an extra 10 minutes
