I actually owned a property before, which I sold, and that’s where my deposit came from. I always want to be transparent with you all because everyone’s journey looks different ✨ If you’re thinking about buying through shared ownership (or buying in general), remember that it’s not just about saving for a deposit. There are lots of extra costs to budget for too, such as solicitor fees, search fees, land registry fees, mortgage arrangement fees, surveys/valuations and moving costs. These little extras can add up quickly! My biggest piece of advice? Read the small print carefully 👀 Some schemes and adverts can sound amazing at first glance, but it’s so important to understand exactly what you’re signing up for, what your monthly costs will be, and any future fees involved. I’m not saying don’t do it, just make sure you go into it fully informed and with realistic expectations.
