It wasn't Phil doing any of it. Sarah Bond is the culprit for the decisions made. Phil's only mistake was giving her the reigns. He thought she would be his successor. Thank God Microsoft was paying attention.

Everyone forgets the sorry state Xbox was in when Don Mattrick left it. Phil might not have been perfect but I feel like Xbox would have totally collapsed and been shelved had he not steadied the ship.

Phil made some great changes at Xbox. He just ran into a period where Satya was on the fence about the Xbox division overall and business took over. I truly believe his hands were tied on a lot of the issues. Out of all of the huge gaming execs, Phil is by far the most hardcore gamer of the bunch. He knew what gamers wanted and tried to make it happen. Asha is coming in with a beat of leeway, but I am positive her leash is short. She has made a claim that Xbox will be a leader by 2030, and if she doesn’t make that happen I believe Xbox and her will probably both be on the way out.

I'm a little disappointed that there was only 2 exclusives announced but I understand that they're just NOW wanting to do exclusives again so ofc there's not gonna be that many

Phil was a scape goat. Microsoft wanted a 15% return from the Xbox group. That’s nearly impossible. Microsoft wanted more game pass subs, add cod, now cod is losing money, raise game pass, now game pass is losing subs. Phil was put in a no win situation

Asha is being given runway to build her vision like most CEOs for the next financial year or so. Which is good for consumers, means we get served. But it’s still early to say she’s better than Phil. Most of the wins Asha has has had are easy PR wins that are easy to implement when you have the leeway and don’t require a lot of time and resources OR it’s stuff like the translucent Xbox, stuff that was months to years in the making that Phil was working on but Asha gets to sign off on now. But just a reminder when Phil was allowed to build his vision he gave us the One X, backwards compatibility, Xbox Play Anywhere, Xbox PC, Cloud, Game Pass, and expanding Xbox Game Studios beyond Halo, Gears, and Forza. Now IF Asha’s vision can’t deliver the revenue and growth MS is looking for, she will be told make to hard choices and will probably do what Phil had to do to appease MS and keep her job: Increase prices, layoffs, studio closures, and ending software exclusivity to a certain extent
