A deadly shooting near Natomas High School has left a juvenile dead, sending shockwaves through the Sacramento community. According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers responded shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday to reports of gunfire near the 3300 block of Fong Ranch Road. When police and fire crews arrived, they found a young victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed the victim was a former student of Natomas High School. While police say the teen was currently attending a nearby school, the exact campus has not yet been identified. Authorities believe the shooting was targeted and not a random act. Investigators also stated the suspect is believed to have previously attended Natomas High School. As of now, the suspect remains on the run. Witnesses reported seeing the suspected gunman flee the area, running through a nearby field and jumping a fence as law enforcement rushed in. Police later expanded their search into surrounding neighborhoods and apartment complexes, including the Natomas Village area, where SWAT teams assisted in the manhunt. At one point, individuals believed to be related to the suspect were heard urging him to surrender. The school was briefly placed on lockdown following the incident, and nearby traffic was halted as officers secured the scene. In a statement, Natomas Unified School District called the incident a “senseless act of violence,” expressing condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and the school community. The district also announced increased security measures and the availability of counseling services for students and staff. Sacramento Police say the investigation is ongoing, with homicide detectives working to determine what led up to the shooting. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward as they continue searching for the suspect.#fyp #viral
