@healingwithchels: One of the lesser-known dissociative symptoms of CPTSD is absorption. No one told me dissociation could look like becoming completely absorbed in something until hours had passed and I barely noticed. 👇 What’s your biggest absorption trap: scrolling, TV, gaming, work, music, books, daydreaming, or something else?

Oh yeah. The worst moment is coming out of absorption and realizing that I’m still stuck in this stupid life.

I'm doing this more and more because my reality is too much. I often make hours of everyday where I have no idea what's going on around me or even what I've been doing 😪🫂❤️

I am trying to put my phone down and actually sit in silence. I always have my phone playing no matter what I am doing. I turned it off the other day. My thoughts went into overdrive. I know I have to process it all. I’ve been feeling so much better. Forcing myself into that processing is hard.

My brain constantly wants to escape reality. If I’m not doing anything that would have me absorb into something then eventually I would start dissociating

I was like this when I was in the middle of the trauma. I used to put my alarm on every hour because if I didn’t I would have been zoned out for a long time

For three years i maladaptive daydreamed that I was stuck inside of a game. So much so that I would say, “wow this quality is so realistic”. I measured everything on a score board. My age was levels.

I'm hoping you're having a better day today. Sending a hug. I get totally immersed when I'm doing something , such as editing videos. I could go all day and not know anything going on around me

Is this related to cpstd absence seizures? I just get stuck in one place for a moment, especially when I'm stressed or tired.

I do this way too often and usually don't even realize it until something snaps me out of it and I look at the time. I never knew that was why.
