this made me laugh so much... he's not even jumping 😂 he's literally just adjusting his stride slighting and treating them like trotting poles, he doesnt even have to lift his feet any higher

I think it would help having a ground pole with the straight poles.

For the straight poles try one underneath on the ground, some horses struggle to judge them. Cross poles give them a point to focus on. Might help him a little. Ye are doing amazing. 🥰

Omg, he’s gorgeous. I bet he’s an absolute dream to ride. He’s got a lovely bounce. I consider myself to be a novice rider, too. I think you did really well in this footage! I think if you grabbed mane or brought your hands towards his ears while approaching and going over poles, it would’ve made it easier. I still use a neck band tbh, which also helps with loose reigns. 🤗💕

I think you’d have better luck free jumping him, he seems a little struggly and might be better for him to find his own feet

Well done. Riding instructor here. If u put ur hands toward his ears and grab some mane at the jump that will loosen the reins and allow him to stretch his head and jump. It’s important for when they r learning to jump. The last upright ur hands were better and that’s why he jumped 😊 I know no one asked but I thought it might help u x
