@warbossmadsam: Orkology Video 17 We're diving into one of the secrets of Ork biology in Warhammer 40k: reproduction. Orks don't have families, raise children, or rebuild their numbers the way humans do. They spread through spores, turning every battlefield into the potential birthplace of the next WAAAGH. In this episode, I break down the fungal science behind Ork reproduction, comparing it to real-world mushrooms and mycelial networks, and the staggering number of spores released by fungi every day. From squigs and grots to full-grown Boyz, we'll explore why a single Ork invasion can contaminate an entire planet and why, in the grim darkness of the far future, you don't truly defeat Orks, you merely delay the next generation. #Warhammer40k #Orks #Lore #Warhammer #warhammercommunity

what's even more interesting to me than the fungal reproductive biology, is the biologically coevolved caste system of Squigs, Grots, and Orks.

Wait, so you’re saying Orks are a fruit? 🍉 but, they’re also a fungus 🍄 but they’re also sentient 🧠 connected by a gestalt force ⚡️… does that mean a WAAAGH is an earthy fruit salad with pop rocks? 🤣🤣🤣

So the only way to truly defeat the orks on a planet is to send the planet to the local sun.

Okay, I love that the Boyz are just the fruiting body and the true organism is more vast and complicated. It keeps the psychic and gestalt connection, it keeps the knowledge. I love this! 🥰🥰🥰

A big question I have is, can the network tell where they need more orks, and then make more orks in that area? If so armageddon is screwed.

Oh hey, Orks used to have babies! It was really silly, but their original lore had them growing baby pouches like marsupials when they got older, and retreating to the wilds to have them. The spore thing didn’t come about until Gorkamorka, which came out at the tail end of 2nd edition, so we had like a whole decade of baby-bearing Boyz before it was changed! 😁

lol...I got one for ya...ya think if an ork spores the ground and a guardsmen gets trench foot i.e. fungi infection of the toes...would orks grow out of his toes? Gives new meaning to "This little orky went to market"🤣🤣🤣

I'm mostly a metal boyz player/lore goober, but I thought the field does weaken (but never disappears) when the boyz count gets low enough. Like I swear there was a story of a couple thousand feral orks on a world then a WAAHHH passed by and they jumped from squig drawn buggies to rockets without the waahhh ever landing because of the presence of more boyz .

I think I did a video about this before when I was like if you wanted to buy a engineer a weapon to fight back the tyranites and endless heart that consumes planets making The horde even larger how do you stop that like why it works want to fight so bad because that's the equivalent of their sex drive this is how they procreate. in death more orcs come forward that's how you stop to turn it high fleets but of course now you have a new problem
