@gutturalgrowls: [Explanation below] I am nonhuman. I don't mind creating a mythical experience for others, and I am careful with the fragile reputation therians have. But, ultimately, I'm an animal that will growl and bark. I never want to scare children, but she was able to detect my discomfort. And a black wolf monster who's growling low can be scary. I know most of this was all in good fun, the woman with her child was very sweet and soft spoken actually, and the woman talking throughout was saying so many kind things. But for everyone in this interaction as whole.. some manners were in order. I have lessened visibility in my mask- I do not like when people get in my face and I do not like when people get behind me, I'll always pivot so my back is away again and I'll do my best to create distance, but I'll definitely feel defensive. Human or animal, no one wants to be crowded. Do not just walk up and pet, get confirmation first. I don't like or want it, but I ocassionally allow it depending on the situation. If I allowed it though, don't get so rough with it and especially don't try to scratch my actual chin/face/body. Don't prolong the pets, a simple pat to the forehead is enough. Anyway, I'm glad I ultimately cheered the little girl up in the end, and I'm grateful that the other adults were being nice and just having fun.
