The huge bit you missed in the discussion is that most policies include a condition requiring you to notify the insurer of accidents or incidents within reasonable time, even if you are not claiming. So if they later find out that you have not disclosed an incident they can use that as an excuse to refuse another claim or cancelling a policy or even treating the policy as invalid for non-disclosure. So you can never win against them, its all a scam. Government guidance is that you should report incidents to your insurer even if you are not planning to make a claim. But just notifying them will cause an increase in your premiums.

If you pay car insurance for a year and don't have any accidents within that year you should get atleast half off your money back if not more, they can keep some of it for paperwork etc, the fact that we can go 20 plus years without having accidents and not get a single penny back is the biggest scam going.

So accurate. It's the biggest legal scam. We pay for protection but it actually never provides any protection lol. So you end up paying twice to avoid paying the premiums. It's madness and needs to be addressed.

there should be a category where if the insurance policy holder is not at fault, it should not effect their future insurance claims premiums. Like he said, a tree lands on his car and HE has to pay an extra £5k in premiums for something completely out of his control? how is that fair and legal?
