His movements slowed, his eyes grew heavier, and the grief he carried became impossible to ignore. Now Chai is facing another battle. After months of emotional stress and sadness, his body has become vulnerable. Stress can severely weaken an elephant's immune system, making it harder for them to fight infections. Veterinarians believe Chai has developed a viral illness that took advantage of his weakened condition, turning emotional suffering into a physical fight for survival. Watching him now is heartbreaking. The elephant who once radiated strength is struggling. Every step takes more effort. Every day is a challenge. His body is fighting the infection while his spirit continues to heal from a loss that changed him forever. Elephants feel grief, love, and loss more deeply than many people realize. Chai's story reminds us that emotional wounds are real, and sometimes those invisible wounds can leave an animal vulnerable to serious illness. Our team is doing everything possible to help him recover. He is receiving treatment, close monitoring, nutritious food, and all the care we can provide.
