Do you have to pay the publishers? Everywhere I've found for traditional publishing wants a few thousand upfront for editing and printing and so on. Not sure if that's normal.

Currently been drafting my book since late 2023.. every time I feel like I’m close .. I get set back. On draft 4. I have two more drafts in me before I say f it 😂. Self publishing btw .

JArnoldWrites 📖 ✍️ :
Those query trenches can be disheartening. If anyone is stuck in them and getting discouraged, don't be. Agents pick not only based on their tastes but what they think they can sell. It doesn't mean your manuscript sucks it just means it's not right for that person.

Can you please talk about the process you did of landing a literary agent? I’m so confused by the process! The way you explain things is so helpful!

What happens if it dies like you said after you’ve been working with an agent? Can you say screw this and self publish if that happens?

Okay but how do you look for an agent and how do you know if they are the right one for your book???? That really scares me! I don’t want to give my book to anyone blindly
