@dr.red.dpt: It’s called regional interdependence and it is an important concept with treating injuries. It is the idea that any body area or joint relies on the joint around it to function properly. We see this a lot with knee pain - often times knee pain is not the fault of the knee, but the fault of the hip and ankle. Just like low back pain could be stemming from something above or below like the thoracic spine or the hip and glute area. do I think glue weakness can cause low back pain? Yes. Of course. I’ve seen it too many times in person to question it. What I think some of the people who made these videos were trying to say is that physical therapists always jump to glute weakness.
