Dealerships are terrible at trades. I had a dealer offer me 19k for my truck, told them carmax offered me 33k so don't know how they came up with 19k. After 20 mins going back and forth, told them I'll trade it in at carmax and I'll be back for the car. As soon as I stood up they said fine 33k for the truck

my car was worth 7k. we wanted 3k in trade, and the dealer offered us 1k. we walked out and then the sales manager ran out after us yelling they could do 3k. Too late we went elsewhere

Took ours to a used car dealer and, while show us, typed the vin into KBB, showed us the value and what he’d mark it as on the lot. Then offered a little over what we were asking for it. Probably a rare occurrence but it was cool to see someone being honest

Change tax laws to give tax credit for private sales! The dealers take advantage of the tax credits and lowball by that amount.
