The problem is that if you actually understand skating etiquette, this isn’t how you share a public rink. There are kids and beginners out there still learning, and they shouldn’t have to dodge someone dropping into the splits or doing attention grabbing tricks in the middle of the floor. Most rinks clear the floor for advanced skaters at certain times for exactly this reason. When a little kid skating behind you has to suddenly move out of your way because you decided to slam into the splits, that’s not good rink etiquette. Have fun, skate, do your tricks but be respectful and remember it’s a shared rink, not your personal stage.
