it always baffles me they say it’s ’fake fruit’ like how is it not everyone’s first thought that it’s not ripe enough or just gone bad ??? what motive would produce companies have to make FAKE fruit ???

it's a shame how absolutely easy it is to cause misinformation rather than making and having videos go viral correcting the misinformation because of how easy it spreads. i think it's called the novelty hypothesis

ironically it's because of how disconnected people are from food production. the concept of ripeness doesn't occur to people bc in their minds fruits and vegetables simply appear at the store

People also forget social media was not like this 10 years ago so now “all these crazy things happening” is really not true because likely it’s been happening FOREVER and we just weren’t documenting it.

You’re the only person I’ve seen explain these “fake fruit” videos. I knew it wasn’t plastic or rubber food, maybe just under ripe or something! Thanks for explaining this to me. You gained a new follower because of this video💖

We get a lot of of fruits and veggies imported here on Denmark because obv. the climate isn't great for growing a watermelon, bananas etc and I've seen the rubberyness several times. The timing and conditions via transportation has to be right and it just isn't sometimes.

Obviously not going to happen with this admin, but we really need to implement some kind of food/home economics class back into schools so people know where their food is coming from because there’s such an insane separation between the consumer and growers/producers in this day and age.

Kind of crazy that these same accounts will often tell you that you should only eat “real foods” or whatever yet have no idea that a fresh fruit or veg can and will have different textures smell taste etc as it grows/ripens and/or decomposes.

so underripeness for the fruits and thawing refreezing more than once are the culprits here.

A bunch of these look like they were frozen then thawed. That makes fruit/veg texture super weird. I’ve done this by mistake from foods being pushed to the very back coldest part of the fridge.
