Do I think it sounds like a silly way to make money? Kinda. But there are tons of “silly” careers out there. I mean stock brokers just gamble with other people’s money for a living, which sounds silly to me too, but no one would call their careers a hobby.

You could definitely put that on your resume in a way that would look very attractive to recruiters if you were to decide to get a more traditional job. It's a lot of client relations, market research, and scheduling.

the biggest issue is this violates TOS for most games. But yeah it also isn't stable and doesn't come with benefits so people aren't gonna understand it

I get mixed reactions from my family for my job. I work in TV post production. While my parents and sister think it sounds fancy and glamorous, my younger nephews think I just watch TV all day. Reality is sometimes yes I do watch TV, it’s called quality control, it’s not glamorous and is mostly looking at loading bars waiting for things to ingest/export. My eldest nephew makes fun of me for it, saying it’s “not a real job”. Yet I’m earning double than him so. And I’m on a career path to one day edit shows.

seems like a boatload of family is jealous they can do that for work. sounded like they explained it very well. they got lucky to work and make money from that. but the family is mean that's cool to be able to use that for your money. that's a lot of self time keeping

Honestly I working the game industry and even having worked on multiple titles released on the big consoles people still think my job is to sit and play games all day with no thought or pressure 😅

My 35 Yr old son makes a living creating miniature game pieces. I think it's fantastic. It's wonderful that his job is what he enjoys doing. I'm so proud, and a little jealous.

People make millions doing this. Same with YouTubers, streamers, etc. can everyone succeed at it? No. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a legitimate source of income and a consistent job
